Classroom Students’ Evaluation

Additional insight into a student teacher’s progress can be obtained by using a student-centred anecdotal evaluation tool. This evaluation tool

  • is completed in conjunction with a formative cooperating teacher evaluation;
  • provides a differing perspective of the student teacher’s effectiveness;
  • can involve the cooperating teacher’s assistance in the development and design of the evaluation tool, as well as in the analysis of the responses; and
  • most commonly uses rating scales, but open-ended questions are suggested (for example, “What did you like best about _____________’s teaching?”).
